The man in question, Agubosin Ifeanyi Friday, who allegedly impersonated the former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti has been caught and apprehended by operatives of the State Police Command.
Friday was alleged to have set up a false Facebook account in Aderanti’s name, this he used in defrauding unsuspecting police officers and members of the public.
People are funny shaa, The suspect was said to have posted a bank account on the fake Facebook account, asking police officers who wanted to get juicy, quick or sharp posting to pay N30,000 and N50,000, while those seeking promotion were to pay much higher fees based on negotiation. I can't imagine how much he must have made from this, because I am sure almost all the police officers wants promotion, every human being wants promotion in everytin, laughn out loud.
The guy still didn't stop there,
he also demanded , on the same facebook page, that members of the public who wanted their petition sign must part with some amount of money.
Some Police officers were said to have paid the agreed money, however luck ran out on Friday as his fraudulent act was exposed by a policeman who claimed to have paid N30,000 and went to report to the former police boss that he was yet to be posted. Well,I am even surprised that the guy was caught, because the guy must have known that nothing lasts forever and known how to escape without being caught.
Following the discovery, an investigation by the police led to Friday’s arrest through his bank details.
Reacting to the scam, one of the victim said: “I thought it was an authentic Facebook page when I saw the CP Aderanti’s pictures on it. I did not know it was a scam.”
Arrested Friday, a secondary school leaver however denied knowledge of the crime, saying, “I am a secondary school leaver. I wrote the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, examination and I have written post-UME to gain admission into the university.
“I do not know anything about the Facebook account. It was my brother, a university undergraduate, that implicated me because the account he used is mine.
“It was after I was arrested that I got to know the crime he committed. He has been on the run since my arrest.”
The case has since been transferred to Force Headquarters, Abuja, for further investigation.
Hands up to our Nigerian police, it shows that they know how to do their jobs.
I wonder why someone would deliberately implicate his brother like that.
Some things never cease to amaze me..
But on the other hands, guys are now hussling through any means. Even though duping by deceiving people would only bring you curses and I don't advice that guys should do it.
I'm sure the guy has the mentality of "ma ha huro ka-eme, eme ka ha huru!" Which is an igbo wise saying because without considering the risk, he had the mind to rob policemen in broad day light, making them willingly dash him money.
I don't blame the policemen though!
