under the aegis of the Joint Forum of YABATECH Staff Unions, declared an indefinite strike over alleged illegal deductions from their salaries and non-payment of allowances.
The decision was made after an emergency congress held at the institution’s campus by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics, SSANIP, and Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU.
The unions are equally aggrieved over the alleged decision of management to deduct from staff salaries, seeking redress on the issue before returning to the classrooms.
As this strike can affect the future of some students, we hope it doesn`t last for long.
It would be even more frustrating for final year students of YABATECH about to graduate.
At this time in Nigeria , this time of everything in Nigeria having an increased price, salaries shouldn`t be reduced in any way.
