newsfaze: Rights Group demands prosecution of sacked 38 military Officers

On Monday, A group known as Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Advocacy  staged a protest at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja calling for the prosecution of sacked 38 military officers, thereby compounding their woes.

The group pointed out that there was need to further prosecute, confiscate their properties and freeze their accounts.
“We are calling for the prosecution of those sacked military officers on charges of corruption, as well as confiscating of their properties and freezing of their accounts in accordance with the law”, the group advocated.

Barrister Cletus Onwu , The Leader of this group, described as timely the sack of some top corrupt army officers, which he said was monitored by Civil Society Organizations and was in accordance with the law, adding that the next step was prosecution.‎
He added that protesters chose to visit EFCC because the agency was the nation’s anti-graft outfit that had prosecutorial powers in matters of such nature.
Responding, the Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, represented by the Director of Publicity, Mr. Osita Nwajah told the protesters that his office will look into their demands.
“The Chairman will do justice to all the petitions that come before him, including this one that was brought by you. I want to assure you that it will be treated”, he said.
“We are very encouraged by this solidarity visit and the request you have made. The Acting Chairman of the EFCC, a man of courage, who has demostrated this by the mandate Nigerians gave him, will do justice to every petition that comes before him”, he added.‎

This is nice for our country as many people tend to misuse power or try to think they are above the law.
