NEWSFAZE: fake doctor in Abuja who has practised for 10years

Victor Moffat Akpan , A fake medical doctor has been nabbed in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
Akpan is the owner of Luna Maternity & Surgery, a private hospital in Gwarimpa area of Abuja.
Investigations revealed the hospital was established 10 years ago where he offered surgeries and
antenatal care.

According to sources, The self-acclaimed surgeon used a forged practice licence – four years after MDCN refused to grant him licence to practice as a homeopath.

the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, led the police to arrest the suspect who was said to have delivered a set of conjoined twins by Caesarean Section, CS, who later died at the National Hospital in 2013.
Confirming the report, Dr. Henry Okwuokenye, Head of Inspectorate Unit, MDCN,who said he had been investigating Akpan, said the council did not grant him a homeopathic practice licence because the school he claimed to have graduated from in Enugu was unapproved to train students in alternative medicine. Okwuokenye disclosed that the suspect told police during questioning on Friday that in 2002, he paid N15, 000 to one Mike Nwagbara, an administrative official with the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital in Enugu state, to get a forged MDCN practice certificate.
Okwuokenye said, “The certificate used a folio number unique to every doctor, registered to a Dr. Tuoyo Awani, a 1995 medicine and surgery graduate of University of Benin. Some documents also show that his 1990 Senior School Certificate from Eastern Nsit Secondary School, Odot, showed he had no pass in any of his six subjects, scored all 7s and 8s apart from an A3 in Geography.
“Investigations show Akpan presented the forged documents to unsuspecting officials of Private Health Establishment and Monitoring Committee, PHEMC, which regulates private health outfits in Abuja, to get Luna registered.
“His big patient load goes back to 2007, and his clinic expanded to hire five staff, working in a converted apartment where he performed caesarean sections, removed fibroids and delivered babies from women,” Okwuokenye further revealed, noting that the police were on the case.

These are the kind of problems we have in Nigeria. Even people that deal with human health can be bribed without any prior thought of what could happen after the bribe. I am glad that they found out on time.
