According to sources, a group known as Concerned Militant Leaders, CML, from the Niger Delta region on may 3rd gave Fulani herdsmen two weeks to vacate the South-East and the South-South.
Sources say that after the
warning, the two regions(south-east and south-south) experienced attacks on farmers and villagers by Fulani herdsmen..
In a statement by its spokesman, General Ben in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, the group admonished the Federal Government to tell Nigerians who Fulani herdsmen were or the rate of kidnappings and killings of the “so-called herdsmen,” would be unprecedented.
“The Fulani herdsmen have indirectly challenged us, asking us what can we do. But, we promise them that we will not allow them to go without taking revenge. It is an insult and we will give them back.”
The militants while describing the attacks as provocative and challenging, vowed to retaliate if the herdsmen remain in the region two weeks from now.
From all these, we can see that the true problem is identifying who the Fulani herdsmen are to prevent acting out on innocent people. we only hope that this issue can be solved as fast as possible .
