According to my sources, Bangladeshi Army has offered to train Nigerian millitary as part of its international cooperation with a view of ending terrorism in Nigeria as the Nigerian military intensifies the war on Boko Haram insurgency
.
The offer came as Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff, paid a courtesy call on Bangladeshi President, Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban, the country’s Presidential Palace in its capital Dhaka.
“Terrorism in the world today knows no bounds, it can happen anywhere in the world, and it must not be allowed. In Nigeria, we appreciate the commitment of government, that of some. International communities which has made us to win the war”, the statement said.
In the words of President Abdul Hamid: “I want to call for regular exchange of visit among topnotch military officers of Bangladesh and Nigeria to enable cross fertilization of ideas and increase of professional skills of both nations”.
He cited the ability and proficiency of the country`s military training institutions where a total of 98 Nigerian military officials have trained since 1984 and urged the members of Nigerian Army to take training in Bangladesh seriously.
He also maintained that members of the Nigerian army can take admission on different courses at Bangladesh University of Professionals.
As we can see, there are improvements to Nigeria`s military . Making peace and creating ally with other countries is a start to avoiding violence both locally and internationally.
