Between Sept. 17 and 22, Sokoto State Police recovered 80 stolen
cattle . It was announced by the sokoto state police command on Monday .
Sabo Kurawa, The command’s Spokesman, who made the announcement at a
news briefing in Sokoto,
said they had arrested three suspects . Mr.
Kurawa said that 34 of the animals recovered belonged to one man by
name, Lawali Gidan-Igwai.The spokesman said the owner had reported to
the police that he was attacked by three people with guns and the 3
people took his 46 cows while grazing at a forest in Birisawa village
of Tureta Local Government.Mr. Kurawa's words, “The police cordoned off
the forest and were able to recover thirty four out of the fourty six
cows stolen,” he explained.Mr. Kurawa further stated that two of the
three suspects were held at the State CIID while one was at the Tureta
police division. The police spokesman said that the remaining animals
were found wandering in Zugu forest without a herdsman on Sept.
22.“Police acted on the information and moved to the forest along with
the vigilante group where they sighted a number of cows without a
herdsman.“It is highly expected that the cows were stolen and later
abandoned by cattle rustlers. Forty six cows were recovered in the same
bush, on the same day,” .A cow in the market is close to or more than
N100,000 . 46 cows is really a lot of money. I wonder how they planned
to escape with forty-six cows, its totally insane. Would they have made
the cows disappear?? Because I have seen cows before and they are not
like lizards that you can catch and put in a bag.
